A multi-disciplinary creative, Laura Cornman has learned and works in a wide variety of mediums from painting and graphic design, to fine-woodworking and sewing.
Laura began experimenting with concrete in late 2014 after noticing the increasing trend of concrete use in design and interior applications. She was curious to see if concrete could participate in the home in more delicate and nuanced ways - thin-walled vessels and tableware as refined as ceramic and glassware - reaching beyond slab work, brutalism and industrial modern design. After a year of researching the history and properties of concrete and mold-making techniques, filling her home with concrete and refining her mixes and pouring procedures, Laura launched SETTLEWELL in the Spring of 2016.
